Montana is a huge state and there is no way I will ever be able to discuss every (or even very many) camping, hiking and traveling opportunities in the state. However, I will continue to add hikes and other specific information through the years. I have been hiking, camping and enjoying the outdoors in Montana since the mid 1970's and have visited a lot of places and I hope to share information about some of them.

Besides providing "where to" information about camping, hiking and traveling in Montana, this site provides basic information about how to camp in Montana. If you are new to camping you will find info about a lot of basic camping information. If you are an experienced camper you mightfind suggestions that help you to better enjoy your camping experiences so be sure to check out our section on Camping in Montana.
If you want to learn more about hiking and camping in Montana I recommend you buy a copy of the excellent book Hiking Montana by Bill Schneider. This classic hiking guide is updated every decade or so and I can't begin to tell you what a great tool this book is. It provides an excellent overview of hiking and camping in all parts of Montana and I consider this book to be a "must have" for anyone interested in camping and hiking in Montana .
